The mini-gun that is mounted on choppers etc are >probbably Vulcan Cannons which ARE VERY HEAVY!! No, Clay was right. The minigun used in Predator, T2, etc, is a 7.62 minigun that is mounted on helicopters such as the OH-58 Kiowa and the infamous LOACH. These are light observation helicopters that can't afford the huge weight of a 30mm gun or the massive Vulcan cannons. (Although I guess you COULD call these a Vulcan, they are much smaller than the REAL Vulcan.) I don't know how much they weigh, but having carried belts of 7.62 ammo for the M-60, I know you would NEVER be able to carry the weapon and enough ammo to make it worthwhile for any distance of importance. The way that thing was humped around in Predator was totally farcical. But it was still cool. =)
