Yep, I think there are a *lot* of different strategies possible in RA:
- the "massive tank" attack (OK, how boring) (who builds massvie hordes
of Mammoths for this one ???)
- the "massive gun tower and bunker" attack
- the "chronosphere a MBF into your base" attack plus the above "gun
tower attack"
- the "steal all your credits with a bunch fo thieves" attack (which is
really great in longer games, hehehehehehe)
. . .

If you have the credits to build a huge army of tanks, then I have the
credits to do all of the above. It all depends on the map. (try the
massive tank attack in a sea scenario without land connections !!)

In Warcraft II you have to be in control all the time and if you have
the time to build a huge number of mages to make one of them invisible
and get a blizzard into your base then simply go over and squish 'em
flat with a horde of Ogres with battle frenzy. Remember, that you can
build Ogres before you can build mages, so there should be a lot more of
them out there and the Paladin isn't coming close to beating them in
combat!!! Once you have battle frenzy just dance into your opponent's
town and demolish his (or hers) castle ... *poooof* no more credits, no
more complicated buildings .... GAME OVER

Just ignoring the technical differences, there is one point which makes
C&C and RA more playable: you can mark groups and easily go to them,
which makes complicated strategies a *lot* easier to implement.
