Quantum makes several different models of differening quality. We tried
2 fireball drives over a year ago and both died very young. The fireball
appear to be designed for light consumer usage.

On the other hand, we use the quantum atlas-II in our news server and
have not had a failure. Some of the drives have been in use for close to
3 years. There is a DEC DSP6310 (quantum bought the DEC drive division
in 95?), that we bought around the end of 94 that has been running as
a news drive from the start. These drives have been about the longest
lasting drives we've had for this type of duty.

I just bought a couple viking? models to try as boot drives on the news
server (as well as make the machine entirely fast wide.
