Last year WPI replaced its DECsystem-20 with a UNIX machine. Anyway, a poem was written descibing one interesting bit of hacking that was done on that machine: You know PBIN and PBOUT and ACCES and CFORK COMND and PMAP and TLINK and TFORK But do you recall the most famous JSYS of all.... MONRD the priveleged JSYS Had a nasty checksum call And if you ever cracked it Your account would surely fall. All of the other JSYS Were easy as it goes to use But if you tried with MONRD You were guarenteed to lose. Then one evening Ralf and Ron Thought it good to try "We will get that MONRD out Or we'll surely die." Then AEJ was vengeful "Both of you deserve to go." But somehow, Ralf did save them How? I guess we'll never know! -Don'T - - - - Anyone know of other system calls with (36-bit) passwords...
