Is SAIL, a DEC-10 that started life as a PDP-6 in 1966, the oldest computer system in use? I hasn't got much use since the beginning of August, but its news service is still used by a few people. Its memory still consists of magnetic cores - 2 million words thereof. If not, is it the oldest on the network? If so, perhaps we'll wait till its 25th anniversary, next Spring, to retire it. If anyone knows of an older operating computer, please email to j...@cs.stanford.edu or, if you like, to j...@sail.stanford.edu.
