I remember 10 years ago, when I was 7, using a CP/M machine and getting the
famous "BDOS ERROR ON A:" message. This was an uninformative catch-all
error message, covering everything from no disk in the drive, to an LP stuck
in the drive. Nowadays, I use a PC, and can remember the amazement some
people felt at the range of error messages, when first it was introduced.

For the COMP courses at university, however, they make us use Macintoshes.
The error message I see most often is "This is not a Macintosh disk ... do
you want to initialize it?" And, you guessed it, this covers everything
from no disk in the drive to someone sticking an LP in ...

And they claim Macintoshes are an improvement! :)
