Two weeks ago, I got back an assignment from my students which involved (among
numerous other things) finding the minimum/maximum of a set of REAL numbers.
At least two of my 25 students handed in code which had logic of the form
IF(X(I).GT.XMAX) THEN
XMAX = X(I)
ELSE
XMAX = XMAX
ENDIF
for all of the min/max subroutines...
...and this is a *second* programming course!
