>From the very beginning, General Motors has placed a high value on a global
presence. GM began international operations in 1911, when the Corporation
was only three years old, with the formation of the GM Export Company. Its
mission was to sell U.S. cars and trucks world wide. The opening of an
overseas assembly operation in Denmark in 1923 was the first step in GM's
long standing policy of establishing local production and employment in
local markets. Today, GM's international operations employ over 200,000
people in over 40 different countries.

Travel the world and you will find GM operations in countries as diverse as
Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Australia, Spain, France, Great Britain
and China. GM now sells over 2.5 million cars and trucks outside the U.S.
every year and has a remarkable 18% share of the global vehicle market. In
fact, according to a recent survey, if General Motors' international
Operations alone were ranked in terms of sales, they would be 26th out of
the top 500 global companies. A prime example of our world vision is
Europe. European unification in 1992 has meant many changes in the ways in
which GM Europe does business. As borders become less visible, each day
brings new opportunities and new challenges. The Opel/Vauxhaull range of
cars is among Europe's best-selling models and GM's Saab operations are
extremely successful. In addition, vital automotive components are now
being supplied to the expanding Eastern European market.

General Motors North American Export Sales (NAES) is responsible for
marketing GM's American-sourced vehicles overseas. NAES operates regional
marketing offices in Europe, the Middle East, Israel and Central
America/Caribbean. Vehicle sales to these regions comprise over 70% of GM's
export volume. Popular models for overseas buyers include the Pontiac Trans
Sport in Europe, the Chevrolet Cavalier and Lumina in Central
America/Caribbean, the Chevrolet Caprice and Suburban in the Middle East,
and the Pontiac Grand Am in Japan.

GM od 1990 roku ma 50% udzialow w Saabie i opcje na wykupienie
dalszych 50% do roku 2000.
Swoja droga mam nadzieje, ze to GM bedzie bral konstrukcje
od Saaba a nie odwrotnie ;-)))
