Ha, Gemini wie, When you connect a device to a hub with an Ethernet cable, the hub port and the device's network interface card (NIC) send out low-voltage pulses called link pulses. A hub recognizes a connected device by the presence of these pulses. Link pulses, or Normal Link Pulses (NLPs), are unipolar electrical signals sent by a network interface card (NIC) when it's connected to a hub or switch and is not actively transmitting data. They are short, low-voltage pulses that are sent periodically, typically every 16 milliseconds, to signal that the physical layer of the network link is active and the device is powered on. -what is frequency of Normal link Pulses? NLPs are short, unipolar (positive-only) electrical pulses, each lasting about 100 nanoseconds (ns). They are used by legacy 10BASE-T Ethernet devices to maintain a physical link when there is no data traffic on the network. The periodic pulses act as a "heartbeat" signal, confirming that the network interface card (NIC) on the other end of the cable is powered on and the physical connection is intact. NLP vs. FLP (Fast Link Pulses) The concept of link pulses was evolved to support auto-negotiation in faster Ethernet standards. Modern devices that support 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps use Fast Link Pulses (FLPs). An FLP is not a single pulse but a burst of up to 33 pulses sent at the same 16 ms interval as NLPs. The key difference is that these pulse bursts are used to encode and exchange information about a device's capabilities, such as its supported speeds and duplex modes, allowing for auto-negotiation to occur. Oj, musze wyciągnąc oscyloskop i zobaczyć :-) J.
