IMHO, the simpliest method of upgrading NW 3.12 25u to NW 3.12 50u:
1. Down the file server & exit to DOS.
2. Copy SERVER.EXE from FD to HD.
3. Run server.

I have had NW 3.11 20u and I upgraded it to NW 3.12 50u this method.
It have been working for few months before I had time to make a full
upgrade.
