We have found a very serious bug in Windows NT 4.0 (Server & Workstation).
There is a single function call that will crash the whole system at once
without any warnings. The code that does it is:
 
::SetWindowPos( m_hWnd, (HWND)0xFFFF, 0, 0, 0, 0, 3 );
 
We have called it from a program compiled with Visual C++ 4.0.
 
Apparently the value of 0xFFFF
causes the crash. Some other values that we tried did not cause it.
 
There is no problem with this code under Windows 95.
We did not try it under Windows NT 3.51.
 
We urge Microsoft to include the bug fix in the next Service Pack for NT.
