In case you haven't figured it out, he means preparing your
spirit for the journey to the New Jerusalem by accepting
Jesus as your savior.  Some folks think the whole world will
end and everything on it will cease to be.  Those who are
saved will go to be with God and those who are not will go
to Hell.  To these folks there is no in between, no gray
area, no Purgatory, no 1000 years of darkness (or 1000 years
of light, I've heard both philosophies).

Others think just the believers will die, leaving the world
an unsaved, unsavable, and unsavoury place, becoming the
Hell of legend, a Hell on Earth.

Others think the whole bit is hogwash.

If you teach a person how to build their own relationship
with Jesus then they will grow in the ways of the Lord, and
He will show them the way.  If you just preach to a person
they will never understand.

If you give a man a fish he will eat for a day.

If you teach a man to fish he will eat for a lifetime.
