[Q] Proper EPS (for inclusion in LateX) from Windows programs

Hello,

I have a question about how to create a good EPS file under
Windows. I work under Win-OS/2, but the problem is Windows-based.

Background: I need to create EPS pictures from different
graphics programs. The EPS pictures are then included into LaTeX
with the epsfig package.
Some of the progs (notably CorelDraw) have an 'Export' option
with which I can export EPS files and those files are OK.
Other programs (like Microcal Origin) do not have this
possibility and I print then to an EPS file (the printer is set
to HP IIP PostScript for instance, I tried others too).

Problem: While the files from CorelDraw can be included without
problems, the ones generated through the 'printing to file' have
too big margins. The Bounding Boxes are always the same in all
files no matter the size and the position of the picture on the
page layout. I tried virtually all the combinations of
'default/no margins' and other settings for the printer and I am
more or less hopeless.

My question (than you for rading so far): has anyone managed to
generate throuh the 'print to EPS file' setting in a PostScript
printer an EPS file suitable for insertion (in LaTeX for
instance)? Were the margins OK (the distance between the caption
of the picture and the picture itself is too big, especially the
lower margin seems to be large)?
If yes - could you please send me the settings and type of
printer you are using to generate EPS files?

Thank you in advance for any pointers/help/solutions.

Also thank you for responding by email - I will summarize to the
net if there is interest in the problem.

Best Regards,
Wojtek

I had a similar problem with Mathematica 2.2.
When I exported graphics as PS, the bounding boxes
were too large --- so including the PostScript files
with EPSF in TeX documents produced pictures which
were too small.

My solution was to use Ghostscript/Ghostview
(try Yahoo and search on PostScript --- I think it's
ftp.cs.wisc.edu) to set the BoundingBox manually.
Ghostview has an option for PS-to-EPS conversion
which does the trick.

(I hope this is fixed in Mma 3.0.)
