Nie widać polskich znaków pod konsolą (tylko "ó", reszta to białe
kwadraciki). Postępowałem wg opisu na:
http://www.debianusers.pl/article.php?aid=5&top10=1 i nic. Dodam, że w
terminalu pod X-ami (przynajmniej gnome-terminal) jest OK.

Próbowałem już set-locale-env, llocale-gen, PL czcionki zainstalowane.
Po wydaniu polecenia: dpkg-reconfigure fonty dostaję:

==============
debian:/home/lestek# dpkg-reconfigure fonty

Takie same (lub podobne) komunikaty widzę podczas bootowania.

Ta linia z komunikatóww /etc/init.d/console-screen.sh (52-ga) wygląda tak:

==============
49    # start vcstime
50    if [ "${DO_VCSTIME}" = "yes" -a -x ${VCSTIME} ] ; then
51 echo -n Starting clock on text console: `basename ${VCSTIME}`
52      ${VCSTIME} &
53      echo .
54    fi
================

Jak to poprawić?
