Neostrada i FreeBSD 4.9

Witam, problem mój dotyczy FreeBSD 4.9 i Neostrady podłączanej przez port
USB (mode Alcatel SpeedTouch 330).

Konfiguracja maszyny na której stawiam całość to Pentium 75, 48MB ramu,
płyta główna TX, kontroler USB Opti (wklejam fragmenty logów na końcu
maila).

Zestawiając połączenie z Neostradą korzystałem z opisu dostępnego na
stronie:

http://www.freebsd.hello.pl/html/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=62

Całość przebiega bezproblemowo do momentu wpisania polecenia

/usr/local/sbin/modem_run -f /usr/local/libdata/firmware/bin -d /dev/ugen0 \
-v 2

(-v 2 dodałem aby mieć więcej informacji w logach).

/var/log/messages na to pokazuje mi co następujące:

Jun 8 20:30:45 terminator modem_run[109]: ADSL synchronization failed -
timed out
Jun 8 20:31:30 terminator modem_run[111]: pusb_set_configuration 1
Jun 8 20:31:31 terminator modem_run[112]: pusb_set_configuration 1
Jun 8 20:31:32 terminator modem_run[113]: pusb_set_configuration 1
Jun 8 20:31:51 terminator modem_run[115]: pusb_set_configuration 1

Lampki na modemie po wydaniu polecenia gasną obydwie, zapala się najpierw
lampka USB, nie gaśnie, potem na czerwono link, i długo miga, dłuuugo - 40
sekund, po czym świeci na zielone bez migania).

Dodam, że podłączenie pod windowsem działa bez problemu (na innym
komputerze). Na tym samym komputerze instalowałem również linuksa, na nim
następowała prawidłowa synchronizacja, ale pppd nie łączyło. Podejrzewam,
że coś jest popsutego z maszyną. Czy ktoś ma jakiś pomysł?
Szukałem w sieci po fragmetach logu powyższego z hasłem FreeBSD i Neostrada,
czego efekt jest tutaj:
