Intention:
Install freeBSD on dirve e: with DOS remaining on drives c:, d:, f:, and g:.
What I've done so far: Using the novice installation via the freeBSD boot
disk I have made e: drive my bsd drive. I have (apparently) loaded the bsd
kernel into e: drive. This part seems to go allright since the installation
takes me all the way through to setting up user accounts etc.
Problems:
1. Unable to make the "boot-easy" boot manager work from my first DOS c:.
Boot-easy is in fact loaded on c: drive but it never recognizes my bsd e:
drive. I.e., whenever I boot up my computer I get the following displayed:
F1 ... dos
Default: F?
Apparently, boot-easy only recognizes my DOS c: drive as a bootable option.
If the boot-easy boot manager was working correctly I suspect that it would
display something like this:
F1 ... dos
F2 ... freeBSD
Default: F?

computer:
Compaq XL 466
80486 DX2 66MHz
RAM: 16 MB
hardrives:
c: 52.2 MB IDE
d: 538.8 MB IDE
e: 328 MB HP SCSI
f: 52 MB Quantum SCSI
g: 80 MB IBM SCSI
floppies: 3.5"
com1: 3F8 - 3FF IRQ 4
com2: 2F8 - 2FF IRQ 3
lpt1: 378 -37A IRQ 7 DMA 0
mouse: IRQ12

Thanks
Maris

Install BootEasy also on your e drive (docs on the cdrom).

I tried something like that too with no success. I do know that DOS cannot
see any drive w/ unix. If you used walnut creek free bsd then try F5 as the
boot command but you were supposed to make a boot floppy first so you can
boot from there. You still wnet further than I did.
