A new BETA patch for Sendmail has been released. Available at:
        ftp://mcs.une.edu.au/pub/ssmail
This patch enables encryption of communication between two Sendmail copies
with the patch installed. Feel free to test this patch, and report bugs
to:     dbentley@qualcomm.com

At a later date, an rfc should be available for a more detailed
description. The Secure Sendmail patch (ssmail) includes the SOBER stream
cipher algorithm (developed by Greg Rose - QUALCOMM Inc.). After initial
communication takes place between two Sendmails, they exchange public
keys. From this point onwards, the communication between the machines is
encrypted, essentially protecting who the mail is being sent from and to,
and what the actual email is.

ssmail was developed on a Linux system (what else?) for QUALCOMM Inc.
QUALCOMM, is a leading innovator in digital communications, but are known
more for the Eudora email application. Based in San Diego, QUALCOMM has
also developed OmniTRACS, CDMA technology (for digital wireless
