I would like to know if anyone could help
me find out why my animation applet slow
down when the mouse is moving.

I saw some applets that were slowing down
but only when the mouse is inside the applet.
mine slow down when the mouse is outside
too. Is there a way to make the applet indepent
of the mouse when it's outside of it?

thanks,
          Thomas

P.S. please send your answer by email too.

Hi Thomas,

every mouse movement fires an MouseEvent, so if you have registered any
MouseMotionListeners (1.1.1, I don't what they are called in 1.0.2) they
check every mouse motion, which can be a few thousand every second. I
think these applets run on 1.0.2, which has a rather time intensive Event
model (passing one event from one component to the next), the event model
in 1.1.1 should deal much better with mouse events.
