Czytam sobie
http://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/language/type_alias

że using w C++11 poszerzono o:
"Type alias is a name that refers to a previously defined type (similar to typedef)."

Czy to znaczy tylko tyle, że jest to inna (bardziej przyjazna?) forma typedef?!?
Co jest bardziej zalecane?!?

ps. Wiem o innych zastosowaniach using:
a) using ng namespace XXX;
b) "ściąganie" wybranych klas do naszej przestrzeni nazw. Np.:
