I got the F3.0D patch from compuserve last week, and it appears to work
fine.
It appears to fix mostly trivial things though, my main problems are
with the mapping functions etc, and also my mouse doesn't work properly
with it ( the ONLY thing it doesn't work with ).
Anyhow, as far as I can see the principal difference is improving the
way the game handles ECM pods in a number of places.
The most obvious of these are :
 a) Your ECM pod now doesn't make you invincible, just less susceptible
    to missiles
 b) Your wingman/men now use ECM properly, tho' how do you prove this??
At least they don't go down (!!???) immediately on contact with the
    opposition
 c) The enemy uses ECM randomly, with the effect that it can be difficult
to obtain/maintain missile lock or tracking at all.

I haven't really had chance to check it out thoroughly, but I know that
a list of fixes is included with it.

Also I have a SB and have had no problems, except for dodgy speaker.

RTF readme file!!!!!! It says all campaigns from previous patches will
no longer be any good, which means YOU CAN'T FLY YOUR OLD CAMPAIGNS!!!
I hate to yell (electronically speaking), but this kind of reactionary
"throw it away" knee jerk response is completely uncalled for. The patch
works fine and the game is now more callenging than ever. Your old ACMI
files won't work anymore either, so don't try 'em. BTW, has anyone seen
an AMRAMM actually hit a plane in the new patch? Maybe I'm just having
bad luck, but there was this one SU-27 this morning that I had dead to
rights and the $$%@#!~$$ missile missed, and so did the second one. On
the C patch I had pilots with 40+ kills in a campaign on ace level, now
I'm having a hard time getting five on trainee. Guess it's time to get
out the old Modern Air Combat book and find a few new tricks...
