I am interested in anyone's thoughts about these specialized "Gaming PC's." Are they worth the money? Better than building it yourself? Which company produces the best machine and why? Thanks. Higgy

Build it yourself. Save dough. Buy more games. "Michael J. I think they did a good job, and have less markup than the vendors you mentioned in the subject line. (They also offer more component choices than the other vendors listed-- I've been looking because I'm about ready to build/buy a new system.) But it's even more cost-effective to build it yourself. It's hard to answer what is the "best machine" without knowing more about your preferences. For example, Alienware offers brightly colored machines. It's not worth much to me, but there's a market...

I've drooled over the alienware site many a time, but I have also built my own machine. Do you really save that much when building your own? I didn't that's for sure. I think I spent about the same as it would have cost to buy it. (that's considering having to buy windows afterwards).... Id like to know your thoughts on this.... Also the lack of support when building my own pc worries me... and alienware seems so good cause even if you don't get top-of the line hardware, its the best quality hardware... what I mean is, if you buy a dell machine, you just get the cheapest component with those specs, but if you buy alienware, you get the best component with those basic specs... or at least that is what their site says...
