I've FTP'd the CIV v03 upgrade & the GAMBYT01 files & they have
both turned out to be bad. Has anyone had any luck with them?

thanks, PHIL

Well, as it turns out the local systems software programmer decided to
"try something new" & I was the one that got to try it out for real!
Anyway, the files are OK & are at wuarchive.wustl.edu (128.252.135.4).

civv03.zip & gambyt01.zip.

You're at least the third person that has asked... No one seems to know, but
everyone is downloading it. :-}

It's explained in the read.me text file that come along with civv03.zip

Here are some instances of the modification:

 - To support specialist other than entertainer, city must have population
   at least 5.

 - Under Despotism government, having too many cities may cause unhappy
citizens to become very unhappy citizens (recognizable by their red shirts).
To convert them back to normal citizens, they must first be converted into
normal unhappy citizens (black shirts). This also happens in other types
of government, but in lesser degree.

 - Imposing martial law (Monarchy/Communism) is limited into three military
   units per city.

 - Renaming city after the city is founded, is made possible.

 - Transport units no longer increase unhappiness under Republic/Democracy.

 - Barracks have their own maintenance costs.
   0/1/2 under level below prince.
1/2/3 under prince and king level.
   2/3/4 under emperor level.
   | | |-- After discovery of combustion
   | |---- After discovery of gunpowder
   |------ Earliest barrack

 - Passing cities by railroad no longer costs 1/3 movement point.

 - Strategy improvement. i.e enemy is now able to move its palace when
its capitol city is under attack.

This really sounds great. Now, for those of us without FTP access, How do I get it?
I hear a lot about wuarchive. Is there a mail server that I could contact to get
stuff from this archive? Is the upgrade maybe on some other archive with a server?
Or, failing that, could someone post the upgrade or mail me a copy?
Thanks
