Falcon 3.0 D Patch is on GEnie!

Just saw that SH has uploaded F3FIXD.ZIP, the D Patch for Falcon
3.0, to Scorpia's Roundtable library on GEnie. At over 600K, it'd
be about a $5-$7 download at 2400 baud, so I may wait to see if they
will send it to all registered owners (like they've promised).

Think I'll pop over to wuarchive to see if some kind soul has ul'd it!

What does the patch do?

DON'T GET IT!!!! It is bogus. I tried it and it just does not work!

It patches just 26 files, and when I run the patched version I start at
a day somewhere in the 15000-16000 range and all data is wrong. A little
later the games crashes!

My conclusion is: do the same as with the B patch, throw it away!!!

WRONG-- The patch is GOOD and OFFICIAL. I installed it with NO problems. All
squads and campaigns started with any other versions are NOT compatible with
patch D. If you try running old compaigns, squads or for that matter ACMI tapes
then the program is going to mess-up. Try deleting all Falcon3 directories and
re-installing the program. Again the PATCH is GOOD and OFFICIAL.
Some noticable changes:
-- Campaigns actually WORK. I am about 1/2 way through one and F3 is now able
to correctly record my kills (ground and air). I even heard that several
people have actually been able to finish a campaign WITHOUT resorting to
   Falcnr. Neat.
-- Wingmen are more intelligent. They will even use ECM pods!
-- Enemy logic is greatly improved and they too will use ECM pods.
-- You can padlock SAMS!
-- B-52's don't nose-dive into the ground (or it is rare- I haven't seen it
yet and this was an obvious bug with previous versions)
-- Other little changes which I cannot remember right now.
-- Sorry I don't know about modem/network play so I cannot tell if SH fixed
   this.
Several bugs:
-- Several enemy planes can pull 9g turns that CANNOT do this in real life.
Enemy turns appear to be dictated by enemy skill level NOT the plane they
are flying. This can make for some interesting battle with so called B-class
fighters. It isn't realistic but challenging.
-- SH is very generous with the medals this time around. VERY generous. In fact
if you abort a mission before takeoff, you will still get medals! But I can
live with this. Hopefully there will be a quick fix, but don't hold your
   breath.

All in all, I am now enjoying F3. The patch D does make a BIG improvement.

The enclosed documentation file that comes with the patch does not mention
any communications fixes in the 'D' Patch.

We've been playing F3 over a network since it first came out and Patch 'C'
at allows three players to fly together. There are still some minor bugs,
but they occur less frequently. Thursday we are going to give Patch 'D' a
shake down flight after work. If people want I'll post a summary of what
happens.

I have to agree here. I love this game.

Where can I ftp patches A, B, and C for Falcon 3.0? I've ftp'd the D patch,
but need to have the others first I assume?

Thanks,
Rakesh Patel.

No, you do not need the earlier patches in order to apply the D patch to
Falcon 3.0. The patch program they use is clever, and it detects the version
you currently have. In fact, people seem to have the best luck by deleting
all the falcon code and directories, installing the original version, then
installing the D patch. You should do this if you use any of the Falcon 3.0
cheat programs that modify the files in the Falcon directories.
