Help needed on generators


I have found the ethereal ring and had it enchanted, and have gone to the
Tetrahedron in the dungeon but I can't figure out how to get inside! From
reading the other posts I gather I'm missing something very simple here, but
what? Please Help!

Also, how do I get the Mark and Recall spells to work? I tried it while I was
at the sphere generator but all I got was a puff of smoke, so I'll have to take the long way back.

The Time lord said to look for a 'visual pattern' but all I see is some
blinking lights on the Tetrahedron.

One simple question:

1) What is the answer to the riddle 'Grasp not at threads' when trying
to get into Penumbra's house.

(ok, 2 questions...)

2) how do I get past that moongate protecting the generator?

Having just found the first generator all I did was walk through the near side
of the tetrahedron and then met a nasty guy who kills me every time. In the
middle is the item I believe you have to destroy??

You need some thread.  You can spin some from some cotton/wool.

As you know, the red moongate prevents you from entering the generator.  You
must seek the advice of the Time Lord for help in dealing with the moongate.
Talk to the wisps if you haven't yet done so.
