Hey, you guys complaining about Hardball III, how about giving us some of
your impressions about the game. From the ads I have seen it looks like
a great visual game, but I am curious about its qualities for someone
who is interested in the statistical aspect of baseball games.
Also, it looks like it doesn't use real teams or players' stats. Is this
true? How hard would it be to edit teams to make them 'real'?
Give us info, puhleeeeze!

Get "Bo Jackson Baseball", it's much better in terms of playability, graphics and sound. Best of all, the game "talks"!

I have both HB III and BJB. IMO, 2 BIG Flaws in BJB:
o No Batting practice and batting is TOUGH!
o While it supports SB, Adblib, etc... most of the sound is through the
PC speaker -- kinda cheesy
o (hmmm, make that 3 flaws). It doesn't like EMM managers (didn't run
with qemm 6.0) so you may have to run a stripped config.sys for it.
I think HBIII is a much slicker product, but is not as good on the arcade
playability side. BJB *does* have a very good implementation of batting,
pitching, and fielding. I find it a lot easier to read the pitches and
discern a ball from a strike in BJB. This is not to say HBIII is bad as an
arcade game, it's not. It just isn't quite as good as BJB.
While I'm not much of a statistical type player, I'd say that HBIII is much
better in terms of atmosphere, stats editing, and managing.
BJB could have been a great game with a bit more polish. Overall, I think
HBIII is a better choice, but it's close.

Just a few general questions about HB III.
(1) In Hardball I, each pitcher could throw different pitches at with varying
effectiveness from pitcher to pitcher. One guy even had 4 fastballs, but
they were FAST. Does this feature exist in HB III?
(2) Do you have the capability of controlling all fielders (infield & outfield)?
(3) Can you set up a league and play out a season?
(4) Does each player have individual stats, such as running speed, fielding
percentage, ect. ?
(5) Any comments about game speed (I have a 386/33) and smoothness of the
graphics?
Thanx,
James.
