Answer:  Aren't there 8 artifacts you are looking for which are reputed to
be very powerful?  :-)

2) How can the magic in the items be released?  Well, you must have noticed
that on every level there is a room in the center that is inaccessible.  Why?
Becuase that's the volcano's shaft.  But you can get to the center on level
8....i.e. the answer is volcano.
