Some things that I learned from the manual that are not easily deduced: LOVE THE PRESIDENT DAY occurs when as many or more people are happy as content, no unhappies, and city size > 3 LOVE THE PRESIDENT DAY in despotism makes the city funciton as monarchy, in monarchy or communism makes perform as republic, in republic or democracy makes citie go up one pop level each turn. Communism makes corruption equal for all cities. Republic makes +1 trade where 1 exists but martial law is no longer possible and unit out of home citie makes 1 unhappy. Democracy eliminates corruption but makes 2 unhappies for units out of home citie. Barracks cost 0,1,2 after gunpowder and combustion. You can eliminate enemies spaceship by taking their capital. Factories stop working after manufacturing plant is built. Diplomats & caravans cost no maintainence or unhappies in re/de Diplomats can subvert (buy) cities. Excess pollution causes global warming which results in swamps. In democracy, a citie in revolt may cause the entire civilization to revolt. Also, revolting citie has chance of nuclear meltdown. Artillery and bombers are not attenuated by citywalls. The advisors of enemies stand behind them. From their advisors you can tell their government and size relative to all players. 50% chance of production unit being on river. No way to tell until you build near there. Railroad increases land production by 50% rounded down. You cannot sell wonders. Wonders are not destroyed by attacks unless the entire citie is destroyed. Other citie improvements can be sold by clicking on red dot to their right. Only one improvement per citie per turn. Repub/demo will always accept enemies treaties, and never allow you to break them. additions and corrections are welcome. anyone know what determines whether you cna build hydro plant? How bout nuclear plant? -dwk

How bout >nuclear plant? Hydro plants can be built near rivers, hills, or mountains. Nuclear plants can be built in any city that doesn't already have a power plant of some other type currently operating in it. Personally, I prefer the Hoover Dam wonder over all other power plant types, simply because it requires no maintenance and operates on EVERY city on the continent. Over all, the resources required to build it come out to be less than it would require to build hydro plants or other power sources in every city... unless, of course, you only have two or three large cities... (which is not a bad thing... my best scores have been achieved with two or three HUGE cities as opposed to ten or more smaller ones). > >-dwk .-----------------------------------------------------------------------. / Lyle J.
