Yep, it sure looks like your the first, I don't think too many people
noticed it yet though ;)

I mean, sure, it's PD, but castle wolf. 3d has decent scrolling etc., and it's fast! Now, if we wanna talk REALLY slow, lets talk Ultima Underworld!! Yikes man! On a 386-25 it was slow...zoing! Speaking of Ultima 7 bugs, I had the game crash rather interestingly on
me last night.... I got a Parity Error. Now, for those of you who don't
know, a parity error is generated by the hardware... For every 9 memory chips,
there's a ninth chip, that data is copied in to, allowing the pc to compare
two chip's contents, to make sure they aren't changing unreliably. If they are,
then it generates a parity error.
Now, theres nothing wrong with my hardware. My memory is a-ok, and this
error has never happened before, and hasn't happened since. Which really
makes me wonder about Ultima 7.... How the hell does a piece of software
alone cause such a low level hardware error? Go figure.
As far as the disappearing key's bug, its hard for me to understand how
such an obvious and reproducable bug that EVERYONE who plays the game runs
in to could have possibly made it past beta testing. Its almost as if Origin
did it on purpose... Or perhaps someone sabatoged the project. Wierd.
Anyway, now that I'm done griping, does anyone know how to find the sphere
generator for the time lord? I've gone through everything I could
find. Theres still some chests and one door (with a body past it) that
I can't open. I've found some secret passages, and even gone up above the
mountains a couple of times, but still no sphere. Anyone have any clue
what I'm missing?

I admit I am no computer hardware genius, but I have had that "memory parity error" quite frequently b/f I attained a faster computer. For instance, when playing MM3 on my old AT 8 mhz machine I received tons of parity errors. However, once I attained a 386 motherboard, I no longer received any "parity errors." Anyway, this is only a speculation to your problem. I am sure you already know but U7 needs to run at least a 386. If your system is slower than 16 mhz, then you are pretty much screwed. P.P. P.S. Let me know if I am wrong.

I don't see the need to reach for a harder theory. There's nothing that says that parity errors come in groups, unless it's a hard failure. DRAM suffers soft errors too (that's the reason for ECC RAM systems). Many, if not most, BIOSs actually check the port 0x61 bits after receiving an NMI, and don't say there was a parity error unless there really was one. -- James R. Getting to the generator isn't an easy task... You gotta go into the Dungeon Despise and get past all the teleport traps. Once you get past those and into the proper area, finding it is easy. (now getting to it I haven't figured out yet).
