Since I've yet to see a substantive post, I'll go ahead and try to be the
first.

Even though I've never played a round of golf in my life I went ahead and
purchased Links. So far (2+ months since purchase) I've thoroughly enjoyed
the game. Even goofing around on the practice tee is fun. If I had a little
more money budgeted for it I'd probably buy a couple of more course disks (I
took the registration offer and purchased Bountiful for $9.95).

Anyway, to the point. There is one (apparent) feature to the the game that I
don't like. It seems to add a "momentum" factor to players under certain
circumstances. After making a good putt for a birdie, I notice that that
particular player seems much more likely to sink long putts, chip in from the
rough, etc.. This could be a completely subjective impression on my part
(one presses and does dumb things when behind, but plays intelligently and
under control when things are "going well"), but I kind of doubt it. Having
one out of three or four players in a round consistently sink 30-60 foot
putts is a bit much. The "phenomena" seems to end after 4-6 holes or so.

Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me? In general, is the concept
of "momentum" thought of as an appropriate feature by game designers?

While on the subject of Links, does anyone have good info on the 386 version?
I saw the add and upgrade offer in the current issue of Computer Gaming
World. Since the offer expires in August, I would assume the game would be
out before then. Given the track record of game publishers though I probably
should ask whether that's this year or next.
