I thought long abd hard about whether to post this reply publicly or in a direct e-mail. Since I was taken to task in public, I have chosen to reply in the same medium. Hoi: I think you got a little hot under the collar with me regarding my WCS post to the comp.sys.ibm.pc.games group. If I didn't ask all the questions _you_ wanted, then call them yourself. REF> "Why didn't you ask them about the WCS option thing???" I don't set policy for Thrustmaster or Dynamix. Nor do I have a problem with the fact that all flight sim manufacturers utilize different keystrokes for similar functions (like guns, landing gear etc). I DO appreciate a solution which Thrustmaster and Dynamix have provided. How do you expect a manufacturer to set a "standard" for upcoming products and apply them to the first of their line? The fact that Dynamix (or Thrustmaster) did not foresee the need to encode the key-codes for Aces of the Pacific in the Red Baron WCS support is lamentable, but not an outrage. As aircraft evolved the thingd they could do evolved too. There is no need for a CHAFF switch on a Folker! You did bring up a good point about writing the various companies. I hope you follow suit with it. Finally, I don't understand your comments to my " Send in those reg cards boys and girls!" closing (follows). If you don't REGISTER your purchase with Sierra, how do you expect them to send you your bug fix for the sound problem?? Get real? I am. I registered, called their tech support and am part of the solution. HOI> Be real. If we make enough real money to buy PC games on a regular basis, HOI> you think we want our friends and co-workers to know we still play with HOI> GAMES? In closing, if you expect people to contribute their time on the net and advise their net-bretheren of the possible bugs and attendant fixes, a little POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT is helpful. Get the picture? Rick PS: I called Thrustmaster and as Hoi pointed out the upgrade price to a rev "D" WCS is indeed $25.00. This get's you a PROM, instructions and a new manual. They also have drivers (for the Flight Stick) for SWOTL and FALCON-3. The drivers support the "hat" and the other switches. The drivers are $15.95 each. --- +-----------------------------------------------+ + Rick Wagoner + + Sun Microsystems Education Dept. + + 408-276-5658 + + + + email Rick.W...@EBay.Sun.COM + + or rick.wagoner@Ebay + + or rwag...@sun.com + + + + or whateverthehell the DNS server mangles my + + address into! + + + +-----------------------------------------------+ + Opinions: MINE!
