Well, I assume you meant uw.exe.  I did do a comp on the two files, and
they were identical, and the dates are also the same.  So origin is
shipping the updated version now.  So if the executable you got with the
game is dated 4-14-92 then you already have the updated version, and
don't bother downloading uwfix.  The directory listing for the new
executable looks something like this.

I guess he (she?) meant the date was 11/03/91.  So if you have this date
on your executable you might want to download the fixed version even
though some people like Juha appear not to be having problems.
