The Amiga was WAY ahead of it's time, but now, in many ways, is too far behind to be a viable platform for many people. I held out for the longest time, but there was no software available on the Amiga for what I needed, and what there was didn't compare to the PC software. Porting the Amiga OS is not what I would want on my PC. However, if Bill Gates would use the principles in the Amiga kernel for the win97, that would be something to talk about. I get so pissed at windows, so many people say the Amiga operating system is unstable, I have crashed windows more than a few times after having the machine only about a month, and yes, you windoze advocates, I know what I am doing with it, I have all the updates, and service packs installed. And then there's the messed up DLL's, I cant remember anytime I have ever installed a game on the Amiga only to have my browser start doing weird things, like having the window be transparent, and still see my windows backdrop thru explorer's window. (sierra, is in part to thank for that, but why is the OS set up that way?) And fluidity, hahah.... when I am downloading something, or a program is running a t rather CPU intensive rates, the machine has problems drawing it's windows, and resizing, etc... The Amiga would resize without missing a beat - ANYTIME. The Amiga OS is still better than most in raw multitasking power, but that's it. -- ----- Jason Straight jrs...@freeway.net IRC - codesmith ----- > >The Amiga was at least 5 years ahead of it's time when released and > >should still be a viable platform.
