Think you are looking down the wrong end of the telescope mate.
Someone once said that about IBM. In fact the industry goes in
generations. IBM dominated mainframes, thought micros a bit irrelevant
- arrogant you see- and didn't respond in the right way. There was a
bit of a grey area with minis, Unix and Vax but desktop micros
dominated the last 10 years with M$. The next ten years will see the
rise of diversity in a whole host of communications and embedded
applications which M$ will have great difficulty in focussing.
More like a diffraction grating than a lens. They might maintain a
dominance in desktops but this is only a fraction of the potential
market. In fact, I am rather pleased there are people like you who
think M$ have this sort of control. This type of complacency and
arrogance will be the reason that they will probably not maintain
their dominance.
