Re: Directx 9.0 Problem With Links 2003

Reinstalling the 6166 ATI drivers did not correct the problem so I poked
around a little more on the Microsoft support site for Links 2003 and found
that Links 2003 uses a file called 'VideoCard.txt' which resides in the
game's home directory. I opened this file with Notepad and found that there
was not an entry for my video card. So using 'DXDIAG' I was able to
retrieve the device id for the 'Radeon 9700' professional card (0x4E44 ) and
I added the following line under the 'ATI' vendor section:

0x4E44 = "RADEON 9700/9500 SERIES"

After saving my update I relaunched 'Links 2003' and low and behold it
worked perfectly. I played 6 holes and then closed the game down. After
closing the game and restarting I am now getting the same error as before
where the game will not launch.

I have even gone so far as to remove the line that I added to the
'VideoCard.txt' file and then save it and then re-add and save the line
again, but to no avail.

I think the problem may be related to this 'VideoCard.txt' file, but I am
not sure as to the permanent fix.

Regards.
