OT: Having problems with Razor boomslang thumb button behaviour

Sorry for the OT post, but I figured it's more likely that there would
be Gamers who own Boomslangs than normal Web Browsers.

My current problem is this.
The thumb button on my Boomslang only registers a Single Click after
I release the button.
If I hold it down, nothing happens until I release.
Makes it hard for me to use this as my Zoom/Secondary button for games
like Tribes, Unreal, and Quake 3.

Anyone else have the same problem or is it just me?
No one else seems to be complaining about it, so either it's just me,
or everyone else uses the thumb button for single click usage (like
firing or jumping, etc) that they don't notice the fact that it
triggers only when released.

My current setup is:
Athlon 500@800 (can't be an overclock issue I assume)
Asus K7M (since I still can't find the new boards)
Voodoo2 SLI
Marvel G400-TV
3Com 10/100 card
Diamond MX300
Adaptec SCSI
Boomslang 2000

I upgraded from a Logitech Mouseman+, but I uninstalled it's
drivers/software before using the Boomslang
