:This might be part of your problem. Gravis, the makers of gravis ultrasound
:have made it so that some of their ultrasound demos are not compatible with
:soundblaster, but all of the soundblaster demos and compatible games are
:compatible with gravis....IOW gravis is trying to lockout soundblaster...and
:gravis does have some neat games and demos but registration costs for the games
:are ridiculous!

Hmm, and which demos are you refering to? As far as I know, gravis isn't in
the software business. Forte handles all that for them.
And if you're refering to the demos that are included with the disks which
ship with the ultrasound (which are the ONLY ones I've seen by Forte for the
ultrasound), of course they're not going to work with any other card. Why
should they?
Any other demos you might run across on various ftp sites, which brag about
'Ultrasound' only support are most likely the ones by the demo groups, (
including Future Crew, Twilight Zone, and others). None of these groups, to
my knowledge, works for, or have anything to do with Gravis.
So you're conclusion that Gravis is trying to lock out soundblaster is quite
incorrect. But then again, why would a competitor of soundblaster want to
help them?
