Just in case you didn't know... Age of Empires Online is set at a reasonable speed that cannot be changed. That's what we need. A monopoly grabbing company like Microsoft to whack all of the competition and then produce a high quality RTS permanently set on SLOW :) Nobody can master RTS even the slowest speed. Maybe someday, maybe after the next generation of kids grow up in the Internet world. But not today. Good luck and have fun.

You need to get a DLC that was free at GFWL a while back. Once that is installed, you go to particular area on the game map, and can start skirmish campaigns. I think you can set game speed there. The base game was almost like an MMORPG, with quests and advancements unlocking at a lethargic pace. The skirmish however was like a proper RTS game, with all units and advancements available during one session of a game. Check out that DLC. -- Noman
