This title has been out for awhile. Anybody playing it? I just picked it up this weekend after seeing it referenced in a Star Ruler review. Probably the best real time 4X game I've played. It's use of automation to simplify much of the micromanagement once your empire reaches a few thousand colonies and the fact that you only control State units (military, colony ships, exploration ships) and the CPU controls Private ships (mining, civilian transport, etc) makes managing an empire over 1000 systems somewhat manageable. The 2D graphics will set you back 10 years and with everything running the animation at the universe view will be at 1 fps. The space monsters are a little hokey, but the usually singled minded hostile Pirates can actually be helpful for the right price.

I had never heard of it until today. I don't seem to find a demo.

But you'd be hard pressed to find a bad review of the game, even when compared to such legends as MoO2, GalCiv2, and SE IV. Since it is strictly single player (which I don't have problem with) it can use automation to make realtime more bearable. This is the first RTS game I've played that uses RT to make the game feel "alive". Not necessarily pressed to build units or structures, becuase if you do, your economy will quickly go into the red, since you can't easily just gather more resources. > >graphics will set you back 10 years and with everything running the > >animation at the universe view will be at 1 fps. > > >The space monsters are a little hokey, but the usually singled minded > >hostile Pirates can actually be helpful for the right price. > > I had never heard of it until today. Reading the forum there suggests it's still got some fairly bad teething problems. The idea looks good, I'm not sure they got it right yet.
