Oh, fuck YES.

I hope that HOMM6 will have a map editor from the get-go, and be tile-
based.

That's not good to hear, what makes it so bad? I've been looking forward to
this game for ages. Didn't even know it had already been released.

Its been out for a couple of weeks. Its bargin priced at $40, but I
would wait for a 50% sale. If you were a fan of Disciples 2, you'll
be disappointed. They've dumbed down the combat considerably and the
maps are much more linear than before. No skirmish quests, no
multiplayer. Aside from the artwork and story it feels like a sequel
to HoMM. Its not horrible, just missing some of the mechanics which
made D2 great.

It's been out for about 5 weeks in the States and just received a much
needed patch but it is still a little rough around the edges. The
combat is more "HoMM like" in that your units no longer stand in place
but can manuever but are still single units and pretty D2 like, from
what I recall. Probably one of the changed mechanics that MG was
referencing is with the "rods", you no longer place them as they are
already placed but now they are living units that you can control and
level up, I don't recall that from the other releases but it has been
a hellova long time since I've played them.

Anyway, there *is* a demo for it, it can't hurt to check it out and
see for yourself. The narration sucks but it sure is purty. :-)

Wow. I thought the combat was dumbed down to begin with in D2: you couldn't
even move your units on the battlefield if I remember correctly.
