"The first installment in the three-part sequel will launch worldwide -- China excepted -- on July 27 for the PC and Mac and will retail for $60 in the US." Sixty bucks seems a little steep for a PC game these days -- and I wonder how much they'll be charging for the two "expansions" coming later, talk about milking the cow. Ouch.

Ouch. $60 is steep no matter what sort of game you're talking about nowadays. Especially since you KNOW it's going to drop to $40 after a few months. I can wait. -- It's not broken. It's...advanced.

It's even more when you find out all the limitations they have. You can't play on the lan or by using IP (this was said from early on) and you can't play against anyone not using the same server farm as you(so North America users can only play against fellow North America players.) That last one really irritates me since I have friends that I want to play with but I'm in the USA and they are spread throughout Europe. Given we've played other games without issues (on and off Battlenet) I can't imagine it would be that bad with the SC2. Then finally there's the split of the single player game into three sections that will be sold individually. I understand why they are doing it and maybe they will make it worth the additional cost but I'm skeptical.

While I can sort of understand the reasoning, it still seems odd. After all, I know a number of people still do LAN parties or would like LAN play as an option. > and > you can't play against anyone not using the same server farm as you(so > North America users can only play against fellow North America > players.) I hadn't heard they were splitting the single player stuff into 3 separate products. That's pretty dumb if you ask me. I'll wait until the inevitable "battle chest" comes out with all 3 packaged together for $35 or whatever. -- It's not broken. It's...advanced.
