Nice compilation listed by category, lots of indie titles, multiplatform
games at the end:

A great list/lineup. It's kinda demoralizing though. How can someone
even come close to enjoying all the goodness?

There are going to be new versions of Civilization, Jagged Alliance,
Starcraft and Disciples all coming out this year? I might as well dump
my girlfriend and quit my job right now, save everyone some time ;-)

I'm pleasantly surprised with the large number of strategy and adventure
games, I guess those will always be the stronghold of PC gaming.

I reckon! That page is crazy freaking long - needs separate pages
for each genre. Lots of stuff there I'm interested in as I tend to
play a bit of everything except for turn-based strategy.

JA3 is being done by Russians so the humor may not translate to English
too well. It didn't in that last attempt at a JA2 clone (Hired Guns). At
least the Silent Storm engine gives promise for a good tactical mode.

I used to play 'turn-based strategy' games, but then I stopped.

After a while I played them for a bit more, then I stopped again.

Uh, some of those came out last year didn't they? Like Star Trek Online?
And Assassain's Creed II was on consoles last fall, even though the PC
version just arrived about a month ago.

Can you really call an add-on a whole new game?

Other titles are already on the do-not-buy-list due to DRM, like C&C 4,
Assassain's Creed 2, and Settlers.

If anything, this list just proves that the days of retail PC gaming are
practically dead. Over half the games are from "indie" companies.

I assume we're just supposed to ignore the final list of games since they're
multiplatform releases, which doesn't make them exclusives.

And that's assuming all these games even arrive. Beyond Good & Evil 2 has
no official release date - it's not known if the game is still under
development after last year's rounds of layoffs and cutbacks. Six Days in
Fallujah was cancelled several months ago, shortly after its
announcement. Aliens: Colonial Marines has also been cancelled, and those
are just the 3 I noticed right away. I'm sure there are similar errors in
the PC exclusives listed above.

Simple.

First, cut the list in half. These are games that will either slip into
2011 (or later) or just get cancelled outright.

Now cut the list in half again. These are the games that will just suck
or won't be worth your while.

Finally cut this list in half - the games you cut represent the games
you're just not interested in. For instance, I don't like sports games.
It has nothing to do with how good it is, I just don't like them. What
you're left with (1/8th) represents a good estimatation of your shopping
list for 2010.

Yea, some have already been released. What I found questionable is Steel
Beasts 2. The develioper said they put that on the back burner a long
time ago and they have mentioned nothing about it being released in
2010. I would be hapy if it was but doubt it will be.

It sounds more like "Imagine ordering a pizza, half comes to the
table, the rest is still in the oven. One quarter of the pizza is
covered in pistashios and anchovies, one pieces looks ok, but is
burned. That last piece is what you want."

Yeah, the whole list was largely a mixture of the already-released,
vapourware, console ports, and sequels. Very little new and original for
the PC.

Once you put anchovies on even one slice of the pizza the whole pizza is
ruined because the fish flavor and odor of anchovies is so strong that
it permeates the rest of the pizza even if there are no anchovies on the
other slices.

Well, to be honest, much of the console market is nothing but sequels.

Truly original games are far and inbetween, and even when something
original DOES pop up, it often doesn't do very well, just reinforcing the
idea that sequels are the way to go. It's sad that the game industry is
becoming more and more like the movie industry every year.
