Anyhow, I fancy going back into RTW, however the massive size of the
default map puts me off, since I cannot be bothered with it anymore. Is
there a smaller map mod? Failing that, its off to play Imperal Glory
for me.

I think there are simpler win conditions, with less territory to 
conquer, so you do not have to worry about the larger sized map.
