Moral approaches to piracy have failed when they are in isolation
without any other efforts to combat piracy. It's hard to believe that
something is bad when nobody does anything to stop you.

The MPAA and RIAA may put out cheesy ads about piracy=theft, but
they also back up their campaigns with lawsuits and prosecution.
Simply wagging your finger at software pirates will do nothing.

Huh? So how about no used cars, no rummage and resale shops for
clothes or any number of other silly ideas? Why just PC games? The
used market for PC games is already small, largely due to the fact
that many PC games have some kind of serial key or product
activation. Developers really don't care about the market for used
games, because it is so inconsequential. And those that do care are
losers unworthy of our concern.

Used console games, on the other hand, are a huge market and does
have some impact on both PC and console game sales, beacuse of the
competition of retail shelf space. And the big losers are smaller
developers and publishers. But that doesn't hurt the market as a
whole, in fact it might actually make it stronger as it encourages
more people to play games. Just like Blockbuster hasn't exactly
killed the market for DVD's, has it?

> * Don't lend PC Games or borrow PC Games from friends

Why not? If a game is not installed on your machine, I don't really
see the harm. Very often people will go out and buy the game if they
like it.

That means you aren't going to play alot of good games. Depending
on the meaning of "product activation".

I will just say this.... the PC market is well and safe and your
cries of its imminent peril are getting shrill. PC gaming is not
going away. The console market is not overvalued, but many analysts
are undervaluing PC gaming, simply because so much of PC gaming money
is being made other places other than retail, such as monthly
subscription games such as World of Warcraft, or casual games such as
Yahoo games, or even those services you detest, such as Steam or
Stardock. The PC market, after all, is the only gaming platform
where a total dark horse can emerge from nowhere and mavericks can
still make money. That doesn't happen on any of the consoles.
