There has been some discussion recently in a PC related weekly, about current WD problems. Perhaps it is just a streak of bad components that can happen with any manufacturer at any time. Guess the emphasis needs to be about the warrantee obtained with a new HD purchase and with the speed and ease of repair/replacement by the manufacturer's customer service. One lesson that I have had pounded into me again and again is to back-up often. Can't count the number of times I've shot myself in the foot because I didn't do so prior to a HD loss. Fortunately, with the price of HD's today, I usually keep at least two copies of everything on at least two different HD's. That is flawed for critical data of course - lightning could make cinders of every HD under my roof. Wonder if a warrantee would cover that? Wf
