Fastest Computer?? I'm not sure but this Might be it.. And its not complete yet.. http://www.bootnet.com/bootwire_1296.html#TheUltimateQuakeMachine The Ultimate Quake Machine Intel Corporation and the United States Department of Energy announced they have built a parallel supercomputer that can perform one trillion operations per second, shattering the previous record by over 250 percent. Utilizing only three-fourths of the final supercomputer7,264 of the planned 9,200 Pentium Pro processors, the Intel/Sandia Teraflops systems performance of 1.06 teraflops (or trillions of floating point operations per second) wiped out the previous record set by a supercomputer of 368.2 gigaflops (billions of operations per second). "Todays accomplishment is computings equivalent to breaking the sound barrier," said Dr. Craig R. Barrett, Intel executive vice president and chief operating officer. At completion, the computer will have 9,200 Pentium Pro processors and is expected to perform at sustained transfer rates of 1.4 teraflops and peak rates of two teraflops. The system will be installed at the Sandia National Labratories in New Mexico in the first half of 1997.
