It had BAD protection, so bad that it wasn't simply a cd-check when you start the game, it did something more, something that caused a HUGE performance drop, making the game pretty much unplayable on low end machines and slow on even the best. So Bethesda, unlike many other game companies, ditched the copy protection. >> Did you buy the original release or a later "gold" release or budget >> release (since you seem to buy lots of those.) > >Not my type of game but its an important title and its first person >Have the "Game of the year edition"... >I would have bought more units including more GOTY and the budget if >Bethesda removed the need for disk inserted when playing So you missed out on it and have no idea what it was like. >> Only the original release had the truly horrible protection as far as I >> know. > >Bottom line, for me its the same, I still need to put the disk each >time I want to play which is annoying and inconvenient >Bad move by Bethesda... Bethesda! No, that fault is completely yours. You didn't buy the game when it first came out (against your own dictum.) And you're going to spend money on a crap game just because it has no cd-check - that's insanity. You are quite literally throwing away that money, because the company is still not going to sell enough units for their shit to be truly profitable, because it's shit. All you might do, if enough people followed your lead, is to keep a BAD game studio, without the ability to design and implement a good game, alive for a little bit longer. All that's likely to do is waste resources that could have gone to talented game designers instead. And for what, the lack of a cd-check - have you no care at all for the quality of a game? Honestly, your behavior is about the same as someone who chooses what kind of car to buy based on nothing but the Hood Ornament. Xocyll -- I don't particularly want you to FOAD, myself. You'll be more of a cautionary example if you'll FO And Get Chronically, Incurably, Painfully, Progressively, Expensively, Debilitatingly Ill.
