Developers usually get a flat fee for a game. Only the very best of developers get "loyalties" per copies sold, and that is only if the game seems a profit. It all depends on the publishing contract. There is no "standard" contract. Valve probably got a percentage loyalty contract for HL2 out of Sierra. But standard fare like Deer Hunter is developed for like 50K, period. > and don't the distributors get paid for every copy put on shelves, > regardless of if every copy on the shelf don't sell? No, since retailers can RETURN unsold copies, depending on their bargain power, as well as demand discounts if inventory has not been sold in time, and the discount will be counted as credit for future purchases. Again, no standard contract, all depends on the power of retailer vs. distributor. Someone like EB or Wal-Mart who buys bazillion copies will have very different terms from a smaller store in a single city. -- --remove NOSPAMYOUIDIOT to reply, sp...@address.com is invalid-- K S C H A N G 77 (AT) PC Guru, web developer, gamer, Trekker H O T M A I L (DOT) COM database developer, idea man, IT dude --------------------------------------------------------------- "Do I know what I'm saying?
