: "Us" is the people who are sick of hearing about Doom. (And yes I did
: talk with several people who agreed with my while I was posting that
: message so I'm not crazy.) I bought Doom, I still play it, but come of
: it. Its just a game, not the second coming of <insert your favorite
: deity's name here>.
Where are you hearing about it that you're getting so sick of it? You
cross-posted to c.s.i.p.g.strategic, and I've seen nary a post on it.
I've seen LOTS of posts on in it the .action group and in alt.games.doom,
but that's because it IS an action game (unlike X-COM), and it IS DooM.
Was your point to tell people that now that DOOM is not #1 in some
backwater unrealistic list of games that I've read only once, and never
voted in, they shouldn't talk about it anymore?
: "second"? Since this is the first reply to my post, its a bit hard to
: "second" anything. As for the point, I'm just confirming the first poster's
: joy that Doom's popularity has finally faded.
(Well, your post was identical in spirit to the first one, so I'm
seconding the sentiment regarding the first post being worthless). And
again, what are you TALKING about? Why would someone take joy from the
fact that a computer game's popularity has faded (which, incidentally, it
obviously has not.) Just worry about yourself, and your own life. I
use lists like that to see what games other people think are GOOD, so I
can decide whether or not I want to buy 'em. To sit there watching 'em
afterwards "rooting" for or against a certain game is...well...a fine
pasttime, no doubt, but...
And just for the record, DOOM is still #1 in Computer Gaming World's list,
which has thousands of voters, as opposed to the hundreds of the Internet
list. So nyah.
