Has anyone seen a release date for Privateer 3? All I have heard is that it
is more like the first privateer (good) but with WCP's graphics.

That's about right. The next privateer game should even have
improvements over the WCP engine. We should see it next year.

Privateer 3 is expected to be released sometime in the first half on
next year, possibly even as early as the first quarter. It's believed
that it will take place in the main WC universe once again (unlike
Privateer 2), and "Brownhair" from the original Privateer may be the
main character. It'll use an updated version of the WCP game engine,
and will incorporate extensive multiplayer features.

    for(i=s+*(s+1);i-s-1;) printf("%c", *i--^*s); return 0;  }

He means "Brownhair." "Blue hair" was what we used to call
Christopher "Maverick" Blair before we found out his name. Brownhair is
what we call the Privateer 1 character.

It was in WC3, the first game with FMV. Later the WC3 novel
established his callsign. We see Maverick used again in WCP and his
name in WC4 and its novel and in Prophecy. Kilrathi Saga retroactively
gives his name as the character we play in the earlier WC games.

Yes, and a great disappointment to those of us who played through the
first two with the name Flash Bastard.

OTOH, "Bluehair" was more official than "Brownhair", since the name
"Bluehair" can be seen used in some Origin screenshots as well as in
the WC1 animation demos (if you have the original DOS version of WC1,
try executing it with the command "wc Origin w2").

You could still enter his callsign, so it's not a total loss. :)

Yeah, but I doubt that the callsign I use is ever going to become
"official" in the WC series. While "Love Bunny" is a rather humorous
name to have on the KILLS list, and to have mentioned in the pre-WC3
games which could just use the text you entered, I don't think
Origin would go for it.

PS -- the callsign originated from and old PC game the name of which I
don't recall: it was a "Car Wars" sort of game, and you had
your own gang which would fight things out with other gangs.
My gang was the "Lovebunnies". I thought it was a hoot to have
the computer proclaim that the Lovebunnies killed all of the
      <insert cool gang name here>.

That game wouldn't be Road War 2000 would it?

Very likely, yes. The game is lost in the mists of time for me.
I last played it around 1986 or so.

The computer version of the boardgame/rpg game "car wars" was called
