hey folks,

Spurred on by pro-WCP feelings on this ng, I broke down and bought the
damn thing last night. Though I've only been playing it a few hours so
far (had to figure out how to get the new 3dfx voodoo rush drivers), I've
got a few quick questions:

-the FMV seems stuttery, at least compared to WCIII...is this purposeful
(to save space on the CD???) or due to my CD-ROM being 8x (below the 12x
"recommended"). I did a full install (400 MB...geesh).

-is there supposedly a multiplayer add-on to be released soon? I'd love
to take on the role of a Kilrathi pilot ("I shall eat your heart and spit
it out, Terran!") or even one of those new bug guys
("ookoomachhhiiiieeeblaaariiichhhaaahhh").

enjoying it so far,
demian

For some reason, the full installation (and the medium installation,
to a lesser extent) causes occasional stutters, as if the drive was
trying to read over a scratch in the disk. The minimum install (Gee,
"only" 150MB...) doesn't have this problem. If that's not what you're
talking about, then I wouldn't know... the movies run smoothly on my
P-166/4x/Mystique 220(4MB).

As of this time there is no multiplayer add-on for WCP, nor is there
likely to be one. The add-on scheduled for this summer is just more
missions (and presumably a bit more video). You'll have to wait till
early '99 for a mp WC game, if the rumors about Privateer 3 are
anywhere near true.

voodoo) and the movies run fine.

It's not that the movies "stutter" so much, it's more like they're
just in a low frame-per-second mode, like maybe they shot 'em that way.
It's REALLY noticeable when people are speaking, as their lips are WAY out
of sync with the audio. Doesn't affect gameplay, though, so I'm not too
upset...just kinda annoying. I'm P200MMx, voodoo rush, 8x, by the way (64
MB RAM)...so that should be fine (better be, hell if I'm gonna shell out
more money on my computer at this point :-).

That's easily more than enough. Some over on agwc have run WCP no
problems on P-100 systems with 16MB and no 3D graphics card. *points
to Chris Reid* I know it ran beautifully on my system (at the time
P-166, 32mb, 4x CD drive, and a Matrox Mystique 220 w/ 4MB), with even
better performance after I got a Monster3D vidcard.

You might want to fiddle around with your sound card's "full duplex"
settings (if any) to see if that helps.
